My Journey

I played a lot of sports growing up.  Mainly Baseball, but Football, Basketball and a little Hockey too.  With that being said, even though I ran sprints at practice frequently, I don’t ever remember running long distances of over 2 miles.

At the age of 44, in June 2012, I ran my first 5k.  I enjoyed the challenge and the atmosphere so I decided to set new goals for myself.  Next up was the 10K and after that I started searching for a long term goal.

So, I looked into this “IronMan” thing that I heard about. Swim 2.4 miles, Bike 112 miles and then run a Full Marathon!  WTF?  How is that even possible?  No, I thought, I would never be able to do that, but hey look, they have these other distance Triathlons. Sprint, Olympic….yeah maybe I can do that one day.

Two years and 3 months later, after completing a Sprint Tri, an Olympic Tri, two half-marathons, two marathons, and two half-iron Tri’s,
I crossed the finish line in Cambridge, MD and heard:
“Lee Triplicata of Gilbertsville, PA, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!”

Who We Are

Then from five thousand throats and more there rose a lusty yell; it rumbled through the valley, it rattled in the dell. It pounded on the mountain and recoiled upon the flat, for Casey, mighty Casey, was advancing to the bat.

There was ease in Casey’s manner as he stepped into his place; there was pride in Casey’s bearing and a smile lit Casey’s face. And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed his hat, no stranger in the crowd could doubt ’twas Casey at the bat.
